Twelve people were injured in a shooting near Florida A&M University’s football stadium in Tallahassee on Saturday evening. Six of those hurt are minors. Gunfire broke out shortly before 8 p.m. local time on 24 October near the intersection of Perry and Manatee streets.

Eleven people suffered gunshot wounds; another person was injured while fleeing. The initial police statement described at least three victims as seriously injured. In its Sunday update, the department said no deaths had been reported. At the overnight briefing, Police Chief Lawrence Revell said no arrests had been made.

Investigators’ preliminary findings point to a physical confrontation before the shooting. Detectives are still establishing how that confrontation developed and identifying those responsible. The department’s Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.

The surrounding area was busy after a Florida A&M football game during Homecoming weekend, when students, alumni and visitors gather for university events. The shooting happened on a street near Bragg Memorial Stadium, rather than inside the stadium. Its proximity to campus does not establish that those responsible were connected to the university.

Florida A&M said its campus remained safe and urged people to avoid the area of the police operation. On Sunday, detectives continued canvassing the area and collecting physical evidence after working overnight through digital material and investigative leads. Police established a dedicated tip line and a channel for witnesses to submit photographs and video.

The immediate focus remains the victims’ condition and the investigation. Identifying suspects and reconstructing the moments before the gunfire will be central to the next police update.
