Privacy policy

How we handle personal data and how to exercise your rights.

Last updated: 18 October 2026. This policy explains how Nove.news handles personal data when you read our website, contact our team or appear in our editorial coverage.

1. Who is responsible

Nove.news is operated by QUINTA JSC (registered in Bulgarian as „КУИНТА“ АД), UIC 206573375, 94 Tsaribrodska St., floor 3, Vazrazhdane District, Sofia 1309, Bulgaria. QUINTA JSC is the data controller. For privacy enquiries and rights requests, email contact@nove.news. We have not appointed a data protection officer.

2. Visiting the website

Our hosting infrastructure processes technical information such as your IP address, request time, requested page, browser/user-agent, response status and, where supplied by your browser, referring page. This supports delivery of the site, troubleshooting and protection against abuse. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure news service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Hosting statistics may be generated from server logs; this is separate from browser-based advertising or analytics tracking.

3. Contact, corrections and privacy requests

If you email contact@nove.news, we process your email address, any name you provide, message, attachments and related correspondence to respond, investigate corrections and keep an appropriate record. Our basis for ordinary correspondence is our legitimate interest in communicating with readers and maintaining editorial accuracy. When handling statutory data-protection requests, we rely on our legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR). Providing information by email is voluntary, but without sufficient contact details or context we may be unable to answer. Please send only information relevant to your request.

4. Cookies and current website features

The site uses Polylang’s first-party pll_language cookie to remember your English or Bulgarian language preference. It stores a language code and expires after one year unless you clear it sooner. You can delete or block cookies in your browser; the site may then stop remembering your language. WordPress also uses authentication and preference cookies for authorised administrators; readers do not need an account to access articles.

At the date of this policy, the public site has no newsletter subscription, public registration or contact form, and no active advertising pixels or third-party browser analytics. Fonts, article images and site assets are served from our own domain. We do not sell personal data, create advertising profiles or make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. If optional tracking or new services are introduced, we will update this notice and request consent where required before activating them.

5. Editorial information

Articles may contain personal information about people relevant to a news story, including names, public roles, statements and images. Sources can include official announcements, public records, publicly available reporting and information supplied to our team. We assess relevance, accuracy and the public interest in each case. Editorial processing takes account of applicable journalism and freedom-of-expression rules, including the balance with privacy under Article 85 GDPR and Bulgarian law. Publication does not remove your ability to contact us about inaccurate or disproportionate information; requests are assessed against the applicable rights and exceptions.

6. Service providers and disclosure

SuperHosting.BG provides the website hosting and the contact@nove.news mailbox. Authorised technical providers may process website, email and backup data to deliver and protect these services. Access is limited to what is needed for their role. Information may also be disclosed to competent authorities where legally required, or to advisers where necessary for a specific legal matter. Our public pages do not automatically load third-party advertising, remote fonts or social-media embeds.

Sending or receiving email may involve your email provider and the recipient’s provider. If a processing activity requires a transfer outside the European Economic Area, the applicable GDPR transfer mechanism must be used, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your data. External links take you to services governed by their own privacy policies.

7. How long information is kept

We determine retention by the purpose and type of information. Access logs are generated in monthly cycles and are subject to the hosting account’s log rotation and archive settings. Security or incident records may need to be kept until an investigation is resolved and any related claim or legal obligation has ended. Hosting backups follow the provider’s backup rotation; removal from live systems may therefore precede expiry of backup copies.

Reader correspondence is kept while the enquiry or correction is being handled. After closure, only information needed to document the outcome, comply with a legal duty or establish or defend a specific claim should be retained, for the applicable obligation or claim period. Editorial archives may be retained for their continuing journalistic and public-interest value; relevance and requests for correction or removal are assessed individually. You can ask us for the retention criteria applicable to a particular record.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion or restriction, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Portability applies where the GDPR conditions for automated processing based on consent or contract are met. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. These rights are subject to statutory conditions and exceptions, including those relevant to journalism. Send requests to contact@nove.news. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm identity. We normally respond within one month; complex or numerous requests may require up to two additional months, with an explanation within the first month.

9. Complaints

You may complain to the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP), or another competent EU/EEA supervisory authority, including in the country of your habitual residence or place of work. You do not have to contact us before making a complaint. The CPDP website provides current contact details and submission requirements.

10. Security, children and updates

We use HTTPS and restrict administrative access. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Nove.news is a general news publication and does not offer accounts or services specifically directed at children. If you believe a child has provided unnecessary personal information, please contact us. We will update this policy when our practices change and show the revision date above.
