easyJet will introduce onboard internet for the first time through a partnership with Starlink, announced on 26 October. Installation is due to start in the first half of 2027 across its A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft, with completion expected by early 2028.
The announcement does not mean connectivity is available on today’s flights. Aircraft will need to be equipped progressively, and the airline has not identified the first passenger routes to receive the service. Nor has it announced whether access will be free or paid.
The planned connection is intended to support browsing, streaming and gaming on passengers’ own devices. easyJet also sees possibilities for access to journey and destination information and ordering from the inflight menu. These are planned uses, rather than a list of services already operating throughout the fleet.
The agreement is a change from the airline’s position in January, when its chief executive said the economics of a Starlink partnership did not yet work. The financial terms of the new deal have not been disclosed, so the announcement does not establish what changed in that calculation.
For travellers, the most useful next details will be the rollout by aircraft and route, the price and any limits on use. Until those are published, the partnership is a confirmed plan for future connectivity, not a reason to assume that a particular booking includes working Wi-Fi.
