Ryanair cuts Belgium. Check your winter flight.

Ryanair announced on 20 October that it would remove 20 routes and 1.1 million seats from its Belgian winter 2026 schedule, with reductions affecting Charleroi and Brussels Zaventem. The airline blames aviation tax policy. That explanation is the company’s position.

A smaller winter schedule

Ryanair announced on 20 October that it would remove 20 routes and 1.1 million seats from its Belgian winter 2026 schedule, with reductions affecting Charleroi and Brussels Zaventem. The airline blames aviation tax policy. That explanation is the company’s position. [1]

What a network cut does not tell you

The aggregate announcement does not establish whether a particular passenger’s booking has changed. Travellers need the operating date and airport, as well as the route name, to identify the effect on their own journey. The announcement should not be read as an end to all Belgian operations. [1]

Context: fewer seats, different choices

A smaller schedule can change the set of practical itineraries even when a destination remains served. For a traveller, a replacement departure at another time or airport may alter the entire plan. Comparing the full journey is more useful than comparing the advertised ticket price in isolation.

Before changing a booking

Check the current reservation directly with the airline and distinguish a confirmed change from a general network announcement. If considering an alternative airport, include ground transport, arrival time and any separate onward booking in the comparison. This report does not identify individual cancellations.
