The Slovakia trip is off
Parliament Speaker Mihaela Dotsova has cancelled her official visit to Slovakia, parliament’s press office confirmed to Bulgarian National Radio on 23 October. The two-day visit was planned for the beginning of the following week. [1]
What had been planned
BNR reports that meetings with Slovak parliamentary speaker Richard Raši and President Peter Pellegrini had been scheduled. GERB had earlier withdrawn its MP Maria Todorova from the delegation over the Sonya Koltuklieva incident. [1]
A cancellation is not a resignation
The new development concerns the speaker’s official programme. It does not, on its own, resolve questions about political responsibility or establish the outcome of any investigation. A changed itinerary and a decision about remaining in office are different acts, with different consequences. Readers should not have to infer one from the other.
What a fuller explanation would answer
The public questions now include the reason formally given for the cancellation, whether a replacement visit is planned and what further institutional decisions will follow. Those answers would distinguish a scheduling decision from a response to the wider controversy. This report records the confirmed cancellation; it does not claim that the speaker has stepped down. The photograph is an archive view of the National Assembly, not the cancelled visit.
